An art deco pendant light, the bead chain and the cast globe

Chromed metal beads cascade downward, from the finest to the widest, then stop sharply above a cast globe with a free, irregular form. This art deco pendant light doesn't try to fill the room. It settles above a bedside table, in the corner of a sitting room or along a kitchen counter, and lets the light do the rest.

The bead chain and the globe

The beads are turned in polished chrome metal and stacked until they touch, graded from smallest to widest before narrowing again. Depending on the model, they are all chrome, or alternated with black lacquered beads. Beneath them, a flat collar holds a cast acrylic globe whose thick wall keeps the folds of the set material, so no globe is perfectly spherical. Choose the smoked globe with amber glints, the transparent crackled globe, or the white opal glass globe. 15 cm or 18 cm diameter, height from 25 to 46 cm depending on the chain length.

A light softened by the material

Lit, the translucent material softens the source and casts a warm glow on the wall behind it, while the chromed beads mirror the room in miniature. Output runs from 249 to 2000 lumens depending on the bulb, enough for an area of 10 to 15 square metres. Three whites are offered, from warm to cool, plus a version that combines all three temperatures in a single bulb. One piece above a bedside table, or three aligned along a worktop.

Fitting and wiring

The pendant mounts on a cable held by a round ceiling plate, and the cable is set to the wanted height during fitting. The two light model pairs two pendants at staggered heights on a single 20 cm plate. The fitting is a standard E27 and the LED bulb is included, so there is nothing to buy to switch it on the same evening. Wired for 90 to 260 V, it suits UK 230 V mains. This model is not dimmable.
