An Art Deco wall light carved from natural stone
A disc of natural veined stone sits against the wall like a medallion, pierced at its centre by a gilded metal hub. Broad veins run in plum or amber across a pale ground, and no two are quite alike. This Art Deco wall light reads as much as a piece of jewellery for the wall as a light fitting.
The stone, first and foremost
The disc is cut from natural veined stone, polished on its face and softened along its edge. Choose Ø 20, 25 or 30 cm, in two distinct stones: plum veined, white threaded with broad burgundy and grey veins, or amber veined, cream flecked with reddish-brown. At the centre, a round gold metal hub sits slightly proud, standing as the fixture's signature. Every piece comes from a different cut, so the pattern of veins is entirely its own.
A light that comes from behind
The source sits hidden behind the disc, and light escapes around its edge to lay a soft halo on the wall, while the stone itself, thinner in places, glows faintly amber from within. Depending on the version chosen, the light reads as warm white 3000K, honeyed and enveloping, or neutral white 5000K, crisper, and better at showing off the veining. Brightness is fixed rather than adjustable. It suits a room of 10 to 15 m² as accent lighting: a stairwell, a bedhead, a landing, or a living room wall worth dressing.
Fixing, sizing and installation
The light mounts on a round plate hidden entirely behind the stone and connects directly to a wall's electrical supply, with no cord or plug, so a wired point is needed at the spot chosen. The LED source is included, and wired for 90 to 260V, it suits UK 230V mains. A soft, dry cloth is enough to keep the stone clean.
