A wall light that hangs its lantern from a bamboo arm

A length of bamboo fixed to the wall, a branch reaching outward, and at its tip a woven lantern that looks as though it simply settled there. This wall light doesn't sit flat against the wall, it steps away from it and lets the light turn all around. As evening falls, the thin slats cast a fan of warm shadows across the plaster.

Bamboo, woven by hand

The wall arm and the branch are two sections of natural bamboo, with a visible node and an open-cut end left in its honey tone. The lantern gathers thin vertical slats, hand-woven, drawn in at the top, fuller in the middle, closed on a wooden ring at the base. Expect a shade of 26 cm in diameter and 42.5 cm high, for a piece of about 57 cm tall that reaches roughly 30 cm from the wall. Since each cage is assembled by hand, no two pieces are ever quite identical.

Filtered light, never harsh

Inside the cage, a white cylindrical diffuser wraps the source along almost its full height. It softens the light and evens out the glow, while the slats throw their lines across the wall and ceiling. The lit area covers 5 to 10 m², enough for a tea corner, a headboard, or the corner of a sitting room, without overwhelming the rest of it. A warm white bulb keeps the bamboo in its honey tone.

Wall fitting and connection

The wall light fixes with two screws through the bamboo arm and connects directly to the wall wiring: an electrical point is needed at the fitting location, there is no plug or cable. The socket is an E27 fitting, the standard size, and takes any LED bulb sold separately. The bulb is not included, so you stay free to choose the brightness and colour temperature. It runs on 110 to 220V, is CE compliant, and weighs around 2 kg once fitted. An indoor piece, best kept away from damp rooms.
