A bedside wall light that pools amber glass over a bordeaux plate
Twenty-one centimetres of bordeaux lacquer, a strip of polished brass, and a dome of amber-tinted glass reaching into the room. This bedside wall light isn't built to light a whole bedroom. It pools warm light exactly where you need it in the evening.
Tinted glass set on a bordeaux plate
The wall plate is a stadium-shaped piece of lacquered iron in bordeaux, rounded at both ends and ringed by two concentric steps, like the dial of an old radio set. In front of it hangs a strip of polished brass, marked by a knurled dial and a small ball detail. At the top, the tinted glass dome, 14 cm across and 10 cm tall, projects forward with its full curve. At rest its colour leans toward cognac; lit, it turns amber. Total height 21 cm, projecting 18 cm from the wall.
A low light, aimed toward the floor
The mouth of the dome opens downward, so the beam runs along the wall rather than into your eyes. Above a headboard, in a hallway, or along a staircase, it gives an accent glow rather than general lighting, over a comfortable 10 to 15 m². Three colour temperatures to choose: warm white 3000K, neutral white 4000K or cool white 5000K. Brightness is fixed, not dimmable.
What to know before you drill
A single light source, E27 fitting, with the LED bulb included in the colour temperature chosen, replaceable anywhere later on. The plate screws to a standard wired wall outlet, with no visible cord or plug. Wired for 90 to 260V, it suits UK 230V mains. Body in lacquered iron, shade in tinted glass. Mounting at roughly 1.4 m above the floor keeps the light within reach of the bed.
