A marble wall light that lets a stone disc glow from within

A disc of natural marble, held off the wall by a single metal arm that passes over it and meets its centre. By day it shows only its veining. By night, this marble wall light lets the stone glow from the inside and drops a warm halo around it, warming a corner rather than lighting a whole room.

A marble disc, a single arm, nothing more

The disc is natural marble, about 1.5 cm thick, polished on both faces and the edge. Because the stone is quarried rather than moulded, each disc carries its own veining, in smoky grey or warm ochre, so no two are quite alike. Three sizes are available, Ø 16 cm, Ø 20 cm and Ø 25 cm, projecting about 11 cm from the wall, with the arm and plate finished in matt black or satin gold.

Light that passes through the stone

The source sits behind the disc, so the marble turns translucent and glows from within, while a second halo spreads across the wall around it. The integrated LED gives a warm white light at 3000K, with no dimming. It's an ambient light, meant to sit beside a sofa, a bed head, a hallway or a staircase rather than light a whole room, recommended for spaces of about 5 to 10 m².

What to check before fitting it

It wires directly into the mains, with no cable, plug or switch on the fitting itself, so a wall connection and your usual light switch are needed before the two screws that hold the round plate. Wired for 90 to 260V, it suits UK 230V mains. The LED module is replaceable though integrated, and no water-resistance rating is stated, so it's intended for dry interior spots away from splashes.
