There are lights that illuminate, and lights that keep you company. This smoked glass pendant light belongs to the second kind. A teardrop of polished metal drops from the ceiling, flares into a small dish, and holds a bubble of grey glass in which a small frosted moon floats.

A metal teardrop, a moon at its core

The smoked glass sphere measures 10 cm across, and the whole fixture drops 28 cm from the top of the rod, cable excluded. The rod and dish are cut from anodised aluminium, available in polished chrome or black. Inside the bubble, a second sphere of frosted glass carries a cratered texture that gives it the look of a full moon. This small format sits where a larger fixture would not fit, above a bedside table, a stretch of worktop or a kitchen island, alone or in a row of two or three.

Light softened by the glass

The LED source sits in the frosted core, and the smoked glass does the rest of the work: it softens the beam into an enveloping glow. You choose the tone at order, warm white for an end-of-evening mood or cool white for a sharper light above a worktop. The 5W output covers 1 to 3 m², making it an accent and mood light rather than a main room light.

A height you set yourself

The round ceiling plate fixes to the ceiling and the fabric cable connects to a standard ceiling rose. Wired for 90 to 260 V, it suits UK 230 V mains. Its length adjusts with a simple press on the plate: lower the bubble to the height you want, then release.
