A white wall light that climbs the wall like a little figure on a ladder

A small metal figure has hooked itself onto its ladder, halfway up the wall, carrying the light the way one carries a lantern. This white wall light fits in the palm of a hand, just 28 cm tall, and is still enough to change the mood of a hallway, a landing or a bedroom wall.

Everything is in matt lacquered iron, white or black to suit your wall: the two rails of the ladder, its six rungs finished with small rounded caps, the climber's arms and legs. Only one piece escapes the lacquer, a bar of natural wood that runs through the round 12 cm wall plate and holds the ladder clear of the wall. The whole fixture stands 28 cm tall and projects only 17 cm, slim enough to slip into a narrow passage without ever getting in the way.

A round light, carried on the climber's shoulders

The figure's head is the bulb itself. A frosted sphere lights upward and forward, drawing a warm halo on the wall and leaving the rest of the room in a comfortable dimness. You can choose it without a bulb if you already have your own, or fitted with a warm white LED at 3000K for the evening, or a cool white at 6000K for a sharper light. Allow a room of 3 to 5 m² for accent lighting, or fit two either side of a mirror to properly light a hallway.

What to know before fitting it

The wall light fixes by its round plate and wires directly into the mains, with no cord and no switch: plan a cable outlet at the chosen spot, as for any wall light wired into the lighting circuit. It accepts 90 to 260V, so is wired for UK 230V mains, and takes a standard E27 fitting, the kind of bulb found everywhere. The specification does not describe it as dimmable, so check the bulb you fit if a dimmer matters to you.
